The Alliance

 

The Steel Packaging Alliance for Public Safety, or The Alliance, is a corsortium of steel drum and pail manufacturers and producers, risk managers, and insurers who support the use of steel containers for transportation of flammable and combustible liquids.

 

The Alliance's objective is to raise awareness of NFPA 30 Flamable and Combustible Liquids Code, which states that flammable or combustible liquids may be stored in properly arrayed, equiped, and protected steel drums up to four high. Thus, potentially increasing a warehouse's available storage space by 100% without having to expand the footprint.

 

Most importantly, however, when equipped with relieving style plugs in the 2-inch and 3/4-inch openings, the build up of heat related pressure and the potential of a dangerous rupture is mitigated -- allowing first responders the ability to safely operate.
